All teeth have a neurovascular bundle that enables the tooth to have vitality. If this tissue is damaged and/or infected by bacteria due to the untreated caries, the damaged or inflamed tissue is removed; the canals in which the nerve extensions in the roots of the teeth are present are cleaned and filled with a healing paste. This process is called root canal treatment.
Root canal treatment is a treatment performed by anaesthetizing the teeth under local anesthesia, and it is not a painful procedure.
Root canal treatment can be completed usually in 1 session in the case of non-inflammatory conditions.
What Should Be Considered After the Root Canal Treatment?
During the first few days after the root canal treatment, mild pain or sensitivity during chewing may occur, but in the following period, the teeth do not give a pain reaction in response to the external stimuli as the nerves of the teeth are removed.
