In a flapless implant procedure, no incision in the soft tissue is made to apply the implant.
A special surgical guide is prepared for the procedure area using the data obtained with 3D radiological examinations performed before the procedure in the application area of the implant. Consequentially, we can compare this procedure to the laparoscopic applications in general surgery.
In the surgical guides, holes suitable for the implant diameter are drilled in the areas where the implants will be applied. During the procedure, this surgical guide is placed in the jaw and a dental implant of a predetermined diameter and length is applied to the jaw bone.
What are the advantages of a flapless implant?
The most important advantage is that no bleeding occurs as no surgical incisions are made during the procedure. The post-procedure pain and edema is reduced or eliminated as there is no surgical incision. Recovery time is shorter as compared to the conventional implant surgery. The duration of the procedure is 5-8 minutes on average, although this type of implant significantly reduces it.
