Smiling can be considered as a non-verbal parameter of communication. It is one of the most important expressions on a human face. In social life, smiling is a valuable way to express ourselves. Sociological studies have revealed that smiling is directly proportional to self-confidence. At this point, we can say that people who smile frequently have more self-confidence and that a beautiful smile increases social interactions positively.
We have talked about conventional / traditional applications of a smile design. In a conventional smile design, we were demonstrating the results obtainable as a result of the process to our patients who applied to us for smile design, by performing measurements from the mouth and producing models in the laboratory.
What are the Advantages of Smile Design?
At this point, we can say that the digital smile design differs from the conventional approach with a sharp line. In the digital design, the visual data and photos obtained from our patient are recorded and then analyzed with digital software. The tooth forms in the software are demonstrated to the patients by choosing the tooth colors on the raw data obtained as a result of the analysis (analyzed photographs of the patient). Although the exchange of ideas with the patient is faster than the conventional method, the patient has the opportunity to see many alternative options and to make a more accurate decision.
After the design profile is decided, the application is carried out. After the work to be done on the teeth is completed, instead of the measurement in the conventional method, the teeth in the mouth are scanned with a digital scanner and the data is transferred to a computer. The data transferred to the computer is transmitted to the laboratory digitally. According to these data, teeth are designed with automatic scrapers in the laboratory and can be applied to the patient after 3-4 days.
The most important advantages of digital design compared to the conventional system are the absence of measurement in digital design, the use of only digital elements in design, the absence of rehearsal and therefore small number of visits, and the reduction of the process time.
