What is Dental Bleaching?

Dental bleaching is a treatment aimed at bleaching the teeth and eliminating the color changes. Dental bleaching is frequently applied and highly demanded due to the fact that it greatly changes the smile and its application is easy.

In our daily life practice, we extremely consume tea, coffee and coloring foods. This practice, which has become a habit or even reflex, causes color changes in the teeth and affects our smile and smile aesthetics negatively.

Smoking, which is one of the most harmful habits, causes yellowing of the teeth and staining of the tooth surface. By applying the bleaching protocol, we can eliminate the aesthetic problems caused by smoking.

The most important consideration is that bleaching is not a one-time or permanent solution and that besides the bleaching process, we need to reduce and/or leave our habits that create aesthetic problems for our teeth in our vital practice.

Before the dental bleaching process, it is necessary to make the teeth ready for bleaching. Stains on the tooth surfaces should be cleaned, and the caries on the teeth to be bleached should be treated, if any.

Dental Bleaching Methods

Today, the dental bleaching treatment can be done at the clinic, at home or in combination thereof.

Clinical In-Office Bleaching;

This application is carried out with a carbamide peroxide-containing gel. The average treatment duration is 45 minutes. The treatment can be completed in one session, or in 2 or 3 sessions.

There is a positive correlation between how many sessions of treatment will be performed and how many tons of teeth you want to whiten. If the expectations are met in one session, the treatment can be completed in one session.
Before applying a whitening gel, an anti-sensitive gel with vitamin content is applied. In this way, the sensitivity is very little, or not observed at all. After the whitening gel is applied to the teeth, laser is applied to the tooth surface in order to increase the activation of the gel.

At-Home Bleaching

At-home bleaching applications should be carried out under the control of a dentist. A model suitable for the teeth is produced. A soft plate is designed according to this model.

The hydrogen peroxide-containing gel provided by the dentist is filled into the plate for 2-3 hours a day and the plate is placed on the teeth. The gel does not contact your gingiva and your gingiva is protected as the plate is produced specifically for you. Ready-made products sold in the pharmacies or on the internet are not personal. Plates that are comprised in the ready-made products cannot fully protect your gingiva, so we recommend you to apply at-home bleaching by consulting your dentist.
